Oscar Stiffelman was part of the early team at Google (2002-2006). At Google, he worked on a number of large-scale distributed computing and machine learning projects. After Google, he started a big data / indexing company, Discovery Engine, funded by Founders Fund + Mohr Davidow, where he invented an architecture for search and retrieval of web-scale data that was orders of magnitude more efficient than any previous approach. Discovery Engine was acquired by Twitter. Oscar now applies ideas from theoretical computer science to markets as the CTO of a stealth algorithmic trading firm. He received a degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and has numerous papers and patents in areas ranging from computational biology to network routing optimization, analog circuit design, artificial intelligence, and information retrieval.
