Jason Pontin is a Board Partner at Social Impact Capital.
Prior to joining DCVC as a Partner, Jason was a Venture Partner at Social Impact Capital where he sat in the board seat for Totus on behalf of Social Impact Capital and the board observer seat for Menten AI.
Before this, Jason was a Senior Advisor and Senior Partner at Flagship Pioneering, and a columnist for WIRED Magazine. Most recently, he spent 12 years as the Editor in Chief and Publisher of MIT Technology Review, a role he held from 2005-2017. Prior to that he was the Editor of Red Herring, a business and technology publication. From 2002-2004 he was the founder and Editor of The Acumen Journal, a now-defunct magazine about the life sciences. He is the Chairman of the MIT Enterprise Forum, a global organization of technology entrepreneurs. Pontin has written for national international magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times, The Economist, The Financial Times, The Boston Globe, and Wired. In 2013, he delivered a TED Talk in Long Beach, California, “Can Technology solve our big problems?” In 2015, under Jason’s leadership, MIT Technology Review began producing an annual a four-day conference called “Solve” that addressed many of the questions raised in his 2013 TED Talk. The event convenes leaders in philanthropy, business, technology, and policy to discuss specific challenges in health care, education, resources, and infrastructure.
